Role Overview

Currie & Brown is looking for an experienced Project Manager with strong construction and education-sector experience to manage the delivery of education projects from planning and design through to construction and completion.

The successful candidate will work closely with clients, consultants, contractors and internal project teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage education construction projects from pre-construction through to completion and handover.
- Act as the main point of contact for the client, providing clear project updates, advice and recommendations.
- Manage project scope, programme, budget, quality, risk and overall delivery.
- Coordinate architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, contractors and other consultants.
- Manage the design development process and ensure design issues are identified and resolved in a timely manner.
- Monitor construction progress and ensure works are delivered in accordance with approved drawings, specifications and programme.
- Review and manage project schedules, milestones and key deliverables.
- Identify project risks, delays and potential issues and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Manage project changes, variations, claims and commercial matters in coordination with the relevant teams.
- Lead project meetings and ensure actions are followed up and closed out.
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.




- Ensure appropriate health, safety, quality and environmental standards are maintained throughout the project.
- Manage project documentation, reporting and governance requirements.
- Support the client with procurement, tendering and contractor selection where required.
- Oversee testing, commissioning, defects, practical completion and final handover.
- Build strong working relationships with clients and project stakeholders.

Requirements

- Degree or Diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Minimum 8–12 years of experience in construction/project management, preferably with experience managing education projects.
- Experience delivering schools, universities, campuses, student accommodation or other institutional projects is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of the full project lifecycle, including design, procurement, construction and handover.
- Proven experience managing consultants, contractors and multiple project stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of construction programmes, project controls, risk management and contract administration.
- Good understanding of construction health & safety and quality requirements.
- Strong communication, coordination and client-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and work effectively in a fast-paced consultancy environment.
- Skilled certification such as PMP, MRICS, MCIOB or equivalent would be an advantage.
