The role
This is an Aboriginal Identified role where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977).
As a Project Officer, you will provide project management and policy support to help develop and deliver a range of projects, including operational policy and procedure development, process improvement and legislative reform activities.
You will support the preparation of reports, briefs, project documentation and implementation plans, while helping monitor progress to ensure outcomes are delivered on time, within scope and to expected standards. The role will also involve research, analysis and evaluation to identify emerging issues, assess the effectiveness of procedures and support clear recommendations for improvement.
This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working across project delivery, policy and procedural improvement, stakeholder engagement and legislative interpretation, while contributing to practical outcomes that support Aboriginal peoples, communities and entities.

What you will bring to the role
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and entities.
- Understanding of the NSW Planning system or demonstrated knowledge of the NSW Planning system.
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear reports, briefs, correspondence and project materials that support informed decision-making.
- Sound research, analytical and evaluation skills, with the ability to identify emerging issues, assess policy or process effectiveness and recommend practical improvements.
- Ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, statutory provisions, policies or procedures to support clear guidance, role clarity and consistent decision-making.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, tight deadlines and high workloads while maintaining accuracy and quality.
- Confidence communicating with stakeholders and supporting working groups, committees or consultations to exchange information and progress project outcomes.
- A proactive and improvement-focused approach, with the ability to support clearer procedures, stronger governance and better operational outcomes.
