Office of the eSafety Commissioner
Australia
At eSafety, we are pioneers in online safety regulation, leading global efforts to combat digital harms and foster safer, more positive online experiences for all Australians.
Our mission is bold and far-reaching.
From tackling cyberbullying and child sexual exploitation, to confronting emerging harms brought about by current innovations such as generative AI and immersive technologies, we oversee Australia’s online safety landscape.
About the teams The Safer Communities team is responsible for delivering a wide range of programs and projects to support adults most at risk of online harm, such as First Nations adults, adults from the LGBTIQ+ community, culturally diverse audiences, those impacted by gendered harms, adults with cognitive disability and older Australians. The team also works on programs to reach these at-risk audiences through upskilling organisations and those on the frontline, such as sports administrators and athletes.
The Technology-Facilitated Abuse (TFA) Support Service is a national capability-building service that supports frontline workers, practitioners and domestic, family and sexual violence (DFSV) services to recognise and respond to technology-facilitated abuse and online safety concerns.
Through tailored advice, practical resources, direct phone and online support, and sector engagement, the Service strengthens capability to identify and address online risks such as digital tracking, harassment, surveillance and coercive control, while contributing to the National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children 2022–2032 by improving understanding of technology-facilitated abuse and supporting safer outcomes for victim-survivors. The team also responds to enquiries from members of the public about online harms.
About the roles
We have a number of APS 6 opportunities available for Project and Project and Enquiries Officers in our Safer Communities and Technology-Facilitated Abuse (TFA) Support Service teams.
Safer Communities: Project Officer role The Project Officer role in the Safer Communities team supports eSafety's work to ensure online safety initiatives for older Australians and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities are effective, accessible and responsive to emerging technologies and online safety trends.
The Project Officer supports the delivery of initiatives under the Be Connected digital literacy program, including eSafety's intergenerational Young Mentors initiative, and supports engagement with culturally and linguistically diverse communities (CALD) through the development of accessible, in-language resources and services. Through this work, you will help advance digital inclusion and online safety, empowering older Australians and vulnerable communities to participate confidently, safely and independently in an increasingly connected world.

The role develops and maintains productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, suppliers and community partners, contributing to the effective delivery of projects and positive outcomes for target audiences.
A key focus of the role is managing enquiries from members of the public, community organisations and stakeholders, providing accurate, timely and accessible information about eSafety's programs, services and resources. The role monitors emerging issues and community concerns, identifies trends in enquiries, and contributes to continuous improvements in service delivery and resource development.
