Our client, M & G Haulage WA Pty Ltd is looking for a skilled Truck Driver to join their team.
Job duties and Responsibilities:
• Operate heavy vehicles to transport logs and timber between logging sites, timber yards, mills and other designated delivery locations.
• Drive safely on highways, regional roads, forestry roads and access roads as required for log and timber transport.
• Carry out pre-start and pre-trip inspections of the truck and trailer to ensure the vehicle is safe and roadworthy.
• Position the truck and trailer safely at collection and delivery sites to allow logs and timber to be loaded and unloaded.
• Check loads before departure to ensure logs and timber are properly positioned, balanced and secured for transport.
• Secure loads using appropriate chains, straps and other load-restraint equipment and recheck restraints during transport where required.
• Ensure vehicle and axle weight limits are complied with and report any load or weight concerns before commencing the journey.
• Follow allocated routes, delivery schedules and instructions provided by management and customers.
• Maintain required driving, fatigue-management, collection and delivery records using the company’s systems.
• Follow site rules,
traffic management requirements and safety procedures when entering logging sites, timber yards, mills and customer premises.
• Communicate with management, loading operators and customers regarding collection times, deliveries, delays and any operational issues.
• Monitor the truck and trailer during operations and promptly report mechanical faults, damage or maintenance requirements.
• Maintain the truck and cabin in a clean, protected and organised condition.
• Comply with applicable road rules, fatigue-management requirements, workplace health and safety requirements and company procedures.
Eligibility Criteria:
• A valid commercial truck driving licence.
• A minimum of 2 years of driving experience.
• Sound knowledge of loading and unloading freight, including weight management requirements.
• Sound knowledge of road legislation and transport safety procedures.
• Good communication skills.
• Availability to work flexible hours.
• Ability to complete a pre-employment medical.
• Ability to complete an annual medical, where applicable, for drivers over the age of 50.
• Ability to complete a National Police Check.
• Appropriate work rights or a valid working visa.
