ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Wungening Moort Coordinator, this position will work within the Wungening Moort Aboriginal In-Home Support Service (AISS).
This service operates through a consortium of four Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations:
- Ebenezer Aboriginal Corporation (employing organisation)
- Moorditj Koort
- Coolabaroo Community Services
- Led by Wungening Aboriginal Corporation
You will work alongside the Moort Case workers and Aboriginal Moort Support workers to provide intensive, culturally safe support and case management to vulnerable Aboriginal families in Perth metropolitan area. The focus of this role is to strengthen families and support moorditj djerripin koorlungas (solid, happy children).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage a caseload of complex families requiring intensive support
- Engage, assess, plan and deliver structured case management interventions
- Provide a mix of parenting support, advocacy and practical in-home assistance
- Promote family healing through cultural connection and strengthened relationships
- Support families to
- Build resilience and respond to crisis
- Create safe and protective home environments
- Improve connection to community and support networks
- Facilitate case conferences and therapeutic group work
- Contribute to continuous service improvement and team capability development
- Model practice excellence and mentor colleagues
PROGRAM OUTCOMES This role contributes to achieving key service outcomes:

ESSENTIAL SELECTION CRITERIA
- A bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology or related discipline or 3-5 years of significant relevant experience in a child protection / family support setting.
- Considerable experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to promote healing and family safety and wellbeing.
- Understanding and knowledge of the issues and challenges experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Straits Islander families and children in contact with the child protections system.
- Demonstrated high level communication, facilitation and negotiation skills including written, oral and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage stakeholder relationships and promote the reputation of the Wungening Moort program and work part of a team to deliver a quality service.
- Ability to facilitate case conferences and therapeutic groups from an anti-oppressive framework that promotes empowerment and self-determination.
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and act decisively.
- Demonstrable commitment to empowering and respecting children and young people.
- Demonstrated ability to provide safe environments for children and young people and protect them from abuse and neglect.
