This is a Senior Associate to Special Counsel prospect within a nationally recognised insurance practice for a lawyer who is ready to step into the most senior position below partner in a well-established Brisbane team.

The Work Itself

No two matters look exactly the same. One day, you might be working with a major insurer on a significant property recovery arising from a large-scale commercial loss; the next, advising on a complex indemnity dispute or defending a substantial property damage claim.



The work is high-value, varied and often involves multiple stakeholders, experts and counsel.

You'll have carriage of your own matters from strategy through to resolution, working directly with sophisticated insurer clients and taking a lead role in managing litigation. That includes developing case strategy, preparing evidence, briefing experts and counsel, conferencing with witnesses, drafting court documents and client advice, and appearing in court where appropriate.

You will also play an important role within the team, providing guidance to junior lawyers and overseeing a dedicated paralegal function. The role offers genuine autonomy, strong client exposure and the opportunity to become a trusted adviser to a premium insurer client base.

A Senior Associate or Special Counsel with 5+ years PAE in insurance, property damage or indemnity work. Large loss recovery experience highly regarded. Commercial litigators with a genuine appetite to transition into insurance are also considered.
