Established in 1871, the Art Gallery of Current South Wales is located in Sydney’s The Domain adjacent to the Royal Botanic Garden and near the Central Business District, the Gallery acknowledges the original custodians of this land – the Gadigal people.

The Art Gallery attracts around 2.6 million visitors annually and runs Australia’s largest education program with over 90,000 student and teacher visits per year.

With our expanded campus the Art Gallery has a new state-of-the-art building located next to our existing and much-loved building. Providing us with close to double the exhibition space, the expanded Art Gallery enables us to share more art with more people and provide more family, learning and educational programming for all our audiences.

About the Role The purpose of this role is to manage the Gallery's academic programs and tertiary-sector partnerships, translating scholarly research into high-quality public engagement that supports exhibitions, collections and strategic priorities. The role develops and manages complex stakeholder relationships, identifies opportunities for partnership and funding growth, and advances research, evaluation and knowledge exchange across the Gallery and the tertiary sector.

What Technical/Soft Skills you require

1. Appropriate tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent Visual Arts professional experience in academic, cultural or museum-based programs.
2. Proven experience in developing and delivering academic programs within a Visual Arts context,



including exhibition-related symposia, lectures or research-informed learning initiatives.
3. Demonstrated experience managing complex projects and partnerships, including effective collaboration with universities and tertiary institutions, researchers and senior stakeholders.
4. Experience overseeing staff, contractors or collaborators to deliver high-quality public or academic programs.
5. Experience using project management software and organisational or museum-specific databases and systems.
6. Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including facilitating discussions, negotiating with partners, presenting to public and academic audiences, and contributing to funding proposals or business cases.
