Title: Senior Project Manager – Utilities Lead

Overview An established infrastructure contractor is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead its utilities function. This is a senior operational leadership role sitting above a team of Project Managers who deliver civil and electrical utility projects across greater Sydney. It is a predominantly office‑based leadership role, based in Sydney head office, overseeing Project Managers who run site delivery across a mix of major infrastructure and rapid‑paced utilities projects.

The utilities team supports and partners on Tier 1 and major infrastructure projects, delivering large energy connections, working with transport and local government clients, and supplying networks into road, rail, logistics and data centre programs. They handle both larger programs and smaller, fast‑paced jobs, including subdivisions, asset relocations, renewables, substations and battery projects.

Role focus

- Lead a team of around 5 Project Managers, who in turn oversee a broader delivery group of approximately 25 SPE's, PE's and supervisors.
- Own overall programme, safety,



quality and commercial performance for the utilities portfolio, rather than managing individual projects day to day.
- Provide direction, structure and reporting across LV/HV network and civil utility works, including relocations, corridors and associated infrastructure.
- Mentor and develop Project Managers, setting standards and supporting them to manage their own projects and teams effectively.
- Manage key stakeholder and authority interfaces, helping PMs secure approvals and protect schedule and margin.

Requirements

- Background in civil infrastructure, utilities or electrical networks – open to both traditional civil and power‑utilities experience.
- Experience leading other Project Managers and overseeing multiple projects or programs at once.
- Proven operational leadership covering cost control, forecasting, risk management and HSEQ.
- Strong communication and stakeholder skills, with the ability to influence upwards and support teams on the ground.
