Salient has partnered with an established Australian fintech as it continues to modernise and scale the SaaS platforms used to administer complex financial products and investor services.

We’re looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer who is strongest on the backend, with deep Java and Spring Boot capability, but is also comfortable working with JavaScript and TypeScript when required.

This isn’t a role where you’ll maintain one small part of a legacy system. You’ll build and improve business-critical software, contribute to architectural decisions and take genuine ownership from design through to production.

What you’ll build

You’ll design and develop Java and Spring Boot services supporting a complex, cloud-based fintech platform.

You’ll work across APIs, microservices, asynchronous processing and event-driven systems, partnering with product and engineering teams to turn business requirements into reliable production software.

The role also involves some JavaScript and TypeScript development. You won’t need to be an Angular specialist, but you should understand Angular well enough to investigate and resolve support tickets arising from an ongoing frontend migration.

You’ll ideally have:

- Robust commercial experience with Java and Spring Boot
- Excellent object-oriented programming and software-engineering fundamentals
- Experience designing and building REST APIs and microservices
- Exposure to Kafka or other event-driven/messaging technologies
- Commercial experience with AWS
- Working knowledge of JavaScript and TypeScript
- Enough Angular experience to understand an existing codebase and resolve support issues
- Experience with relational databases and application performance
- Strong testing, debugging and production-support capability
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools productively and responsibly
- A background in SaaS, fintech, financial services or another complex product setting
- Strong communication skills and the ability to take ownership without heavy direction
