Company Description GDP Taxation Pty Ltd is a Melbourne-based tax and accounting firm located in Tullamarine, Victoria. The firm provides taxation, accounting, ASIC compliance, and business advisory services to individuals, businesses, and non-residents across Australia. Clients include individuals lodging single returns through to companies, trusts, and SMSFs, offering a broad range of work and exposure.
GDP Taxation aims to make tax and finance simple through accurate, compliant work, practical advice, and personal service. Services span tax returns and planning, bookkeeping and payroll, corporate compliance, and business structuring and succession planning.
Role Description The Senior Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Melbourne, VIC. This role is responsible for preparing and reviewing individual, business, trust, and SMSF tax returns, as well as BAS, GST, and tax planning work. Day-to-day duties include preparing financial statements, managing bookkeeping and payroll reviews, ensuring ASIC and corporate compliance, and supporting business advisory engagements such as structuring and succession planning.
The Senior
Accountant will supervise and mentor junior team members, review their work, and ensure all outputs are accurate, compliant, and delivered on time. The position involves regular client communication, providing clear explanations, responding to queries, and building long-term professional relationships.
Qualifications
- Strong taxation skills across individual, sole trader, partnership, company, trust, and SMSF returns, including BAS/GST and tax planning.
- Experience in accounting and compliance, including bookkeeping oversight, payroll and STP, and preparation of financial statements.
- Knowledge of ASIC and corporate compliance processes, such as company registration, annual reviews, and company secretarial work.
- Background in business advisory, including business structuring, SMSFs, and succession planning, with the ability to provide practical, client-focused advice.
- Proficiency with accounting and tax software, general ledger systems, and Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word).
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CA/CPA qualification (or working towards) strongly preferred.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills, with a commitment to accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax and accounting concepts in clear, accessible language.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines, work independently and collaboratively in a small team environment, and maintain client confidentiality.
- Previous experience in a public practice or tax/accounting firm in Australia is highly beneficial.
- Punjabi langague preferred, Hindi is Must.
