The position of Senior Welfare Officer will provide high level duties as a senior officer in the Welfare service, supporting provision of resources, practical assistance and guidance for children and families who are receiving treatment at the Queensland Children’s Hospital.

Technical Services

- Work collaboratively with social workers and multidisciplinary teams to ensure welfare interventions are informed by holistic considerations of the child and family's psychosocial circumstances and broader social determinants affecting access to healthcare.
- Independently apply developed technical welfare decision-making principles and criteria in daily practice

Communication / Team Participation

- Contribute to welfare referral triage, prioritisation and allocation processes, providing senior technical input regarding case complexity, service responsiveness, and resource utilisation within a collaborative care framework.
- Undertake administrative and service support responsibilities associated with welfare service delivery, including financial aid management, data collection and reporting, resource coordination and service planning.

Leadership

- Maintain current knowledge of community, government and charitable resources, and provide advice to welfare team members regarding available support pathways and service options, in collaboration with the Welfare Team Leader.
- Provide relevant data and information to support the Welfare Team Leader in the preparation of reports, including annual trust funds report and regular service reports to the Director of Social Work and Welfare.

Quality

- Apply and promote evidence-based welfare practice and technical knowledge to enhance outcomes for children and families and contribute to consistent, high-quality service delivery across the welfare team.




- Participate in and contribute to quality improvement activities, service evaluation and practice review initiatives, supporting implementation of agreed improvements across the welfare service.
