About the role

Safetysure is seeking an experienced Senior Consultant to join its consulting services team in Brisbane. This is a full time permanent position with a six-month probationary period, reporting to the Principal Consultant.

The Senior Consultant is a competent, technically capable practitioner who delivers projects independently with minimal input. The role is the task lead on projects allocated by the Principal Consultant, holds the client relationship within the project scope, and directs Consultants, Associate Consultants, Graduate Consultants and Consulting Interns on the projects it leads.

Key responsibilities

- Leading allocated projects end to end as task lead, starting with the pre-task review that confirms scope, criteria, competency needs, budget and program

- Planning and running each project, allocating tasks to the project team and checking their work

- Delivering fieldwork, analysis and reporting to Safetysure standards, with deliverables ready for QA review with minor changes only

- Acting as the client's contact for the project within the agreed scope, including meetings, progress reporting and issue resolution

- Applying sound, current knowledge of work health and safety legislation, codes of practice and standards across the jurisdictions Safetysure works in and across varied industries

- Exercising professional judgement and critical thinking on findings, ratings and recommendations, and flagging critical risks in every report

- Identifying possible scope change, commercial change or dispute early and referring it to the Principal Consultant or Managing Director

- Meeting with the Principal Consultant to review job progress, budget and issues

- Coaching and developing junior consultants on the project, including feedback on drafts and fieldwork, and peer reviewing deliverables prepared by others when asked





- Maintaining competence in nominated service areas, identifying matters that require specialist input, and improving Safetysure methods, templates and procedures

- Meeting HSEQ responsibilities for all workers, including a pre-start risk assessment for every site visit, compliance with client site rules and personal protective equipment requirements, hazard and incident reporting, and daily time recording against the correct project

What we're looking for

- An undergraduate degree in work health and safety or a related discipline

- Five or more years in work health and safety practice.

Experience levels are indicative only, with appointment and progression assessed on competency

- Demonstrated ability to run a consulting project end to end with minimal supervision

- Sound, current knowledge of work health and safety legislation, codes of practice and standards applicable in Queensland and the other jurisdictions Safetysure works in

- Strong technical writing and attention to detail
- A confident client manner in meetings and in difficult conversations, exercised within the authority of the role

- Ability to direct and develop junior staff on a project

- Planning, budgeting and time management across several concurrent projects

- Willingness to travel, including regional and interstate work

- Construction Industry White Card
- A current driver's licence

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office

- Desirable: Exemplar Global certified lead auditor (ISO 45001)



or lead auditor experience against ISO 45001 or legislative criteria, Fire Safety Adviser (Queensland), First Aid (HLTAID011 or equivalent), an occupational hygiene qualification, membership of a relevant professional body such as AIHS or AIOH, and depth across Safetysure service areas
