We are seeking an experiencedEstimating Subject Matter Expert (SME)to join our team inHenderson, Western Australia. This is a pivotal position responsible for leading the development of high-quality cost estimates,providingcommercial insight, and supporting strategic bid activities across complex projects and tender opportunities.

As theorganisation'sestimating authority, you will partner closely with Operations, Engineering, Commercial, Finance, Procurement, and Legal teams to deliveraccurate, transparent, and competitive estimates that support informed business decisions and sustainable growth.

About the Role n

The Senior Estimator will be accountable for the end-to-end development, review, presentation, and approval of project estimates while providing commercial analysis and strategic input throughout the tender lifecycle.

You will play a key role inmaintainingestimating standards, improving estimating capability across the business, and ensuring estimates are robust, defendable, and aligned withorganisationalprocesses andobjectives.

Key Responsibilities Estimating Leadership n

n
- Lead the preparation and development of detailed project estimates to required levels of accuracy and detail.
n
- Analysetender documentation, specifications, scopes of work, and project requirements.
n
- Develop, document, and manage the Basis of Estimate (BOE) process.
n
- Facilitate and chair estimate review sessions and approval workshops.
n




- Present estimates and supporting documentation to internal approval committees.
n
- Develop estimating strategies and plans for major tender opportunities.
n
- Plan, schedule, and lead estimate reviews and bid presentations.
n
- Ensure compliance with internal estimating processes, procedures, and governance requirements.
n
- Promote the use of standard estimating systems, tools, and methodologies.
n
- Proactively manage bid timelines andmaintainvisibility of progress across stakeholders.
n
- Support the ongoing maintenance of estimating databases, productivity benchmarks, escalation indices, and historical cost information.
n
- Mentor and develop estimating team capability through coaching, guidance, and technical support.
n

Cost Analysis & Commercial Insight nn
- Produce detailed cost analysis and reporting to support business decisions and approval outcomes.
n
- Liaise with Engineering, Procurement, Finance, Legal, Tax, Operations, and external suppliers to developaccurateproject cost models.
n
- Act as the custodian of estimate accuracy, transparency, and cost visibility.
n
- Develop andmaintainstandardlabourrates for white-collar and blue-collar resources.
n
- Produce location-based resource rate cards andbenchmarkingdata.
n
- Conduct detailed productivity, quantitative, and cost analysis.
n
- Participate in contract rate reviews andrepricingexercises.
n
- Develop cost models and pricing structures from customer value propositions.
n
- Maintain benchmarking databases and market intelligence to support future opportunities.
n

Commercial Strategy & Bid Support nn
- Develop detailed cash flow and financial models.
n
- Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
n
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative risk assessments.
n
- Perform tender and project SWOT analyses.
n
- Develop innovative and commercially competitive pricing strategies.
n
- Support tender clarification processes, reviewing operational, legal, and commercialdeviationsand providing recommendations.
n
- Conduct Win/Loss Analyses (WLA) with clients and stakeholders to drive continuous improvement.
n
- Lead project handovers for awarded contracts, ensuring smooth transition from bid phase to project execution.

Requirements About You n

To be successful in this role, you will bring:





Essential Experience n

n
- Proven experience as an Estimator with Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial experience
n
- Significant experiencein estimating, commercial analysis, quantity surveying, project controls, or cost engineering roles.
n
- Proven experience developing and reviewing estimates for complex projects, tenders, or programs.
n
- Strong understanding of estimating methodologies, cost modelling, benchmarking, and risk analysis.
n
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior stakeholders and present commercially sound recommendations.
n
- Experience working within multidisciplinary project environments.
n
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
n
- Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
n
- High attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
n

Desirable nn
- Experience withinDefence, Marine, Shipbuilding, Engineering, Construction, Infrastructure, Resources, or Industrial sectors.
n
- Knowledge of tendering and contracting frameworks.
n
- Experience developing cash flow models and business case analysis.
n
- Familiarity with estimating software and projectcontrolssystems.
n
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Commerce, Finance, Construction Management, Project Management, ora relateddiscipline.
