Curtin University is seeking an experienced and proactive Maintenance Officer - Mechanical to join our Operations and Maintenance team.

About the Role

Reporting to the Service Manager, Mechanical, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety and ongoing performance of the University's mechanical infrastructure. You will coordinate statutory, preventative and reactive maintenance activities, oversee contractors and provide technical expertise across a diverse range of mechanical plant and equipment.

This is an chance to apply your technical expertise in a varied facilities management environment, supporting infrastructure that is essential to Curtin's teaching, research and day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan, schedule and coordinate statutory, preventative and reactive maintenance activities in accordance with relevant Australian Standards and work health and safety requirements.
- Provide technical support across mechanical and HVAC systems, including building management systems, lifts, scientific exhaust systems, autoclaves, cranes and lifting equipment.
- Coordinate contractors, obtain quotations and support contract administration to ensure maintenance activities are delivered safely, efficiently and within budget.
- Undertake repairs, replacements, testing and commissioning of mechanical equipment and systems, as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate equipment records, maintenance schedules and work orders using the University's Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Monitor maintenance activities, review performance reports and identify opportunities to improve service delivery and equipment reliability.
- Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, technical staff and external contractors to deliver responsive, high-quality maintenance services.

SELECTION CRITERIA

- An Advanced or Post Trade Certificate, or equivalent qualification, combined with extensive relevant experience.
- A restricted electrical licence and Australian Refrigeration Council accreditation.




- Demonstrated technical expertise in mechanical and HVAC maintenance, including building plant, equipment and controls.
- Experience in contract administration within a facilities management environment.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Building Management Systems and Microsoft Office, with the ability to maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Strong organisational, problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work both independently and collaboratively.

Experience using AutoCAD and Microsoft Project would be advantageous.

Role Requirements

1. As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered
2. You will also require a current WA Class C driver's licence and a White Card.
3. The position involves participation in an after-hours call-out roster and occasional travel to regional campuses, as required
4. Successful applicants are subject to a National Police Clearance, and background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin’s satisfaction

This full-time, permanent position offers a salary of $99,213–$105,251 (G06) per annum, plus 17% superannuation and a $5,152 Industry Trade Allowance (per annum, paid fortnightly) in accordance with Schedule 4 of the current Enterprise Agreement.
