We are looking for a Fitter and a Metal Fabricator to join our team.

Position details

Location: Newman, WA attending various Tier 1 Regional Mine Sites

Employment type: Full-time

Salary: $80,000 - $100,000

The roles (2)

Mechanical Fitter (Fitter General)

Employment Responsibilities

- Support rolling shutdowns across various mining operations
- Perform shutdown and maintenance activities
- Carry out preventative, planned and breakdown maintenance on fixed plant equipment
- May erect machines and equipment on-site
- Completing work orders, maintenance records and inspection documentation
- Complete change-outs of bearings, gearboxes, motors, pulleys, rollers and conveyor components
- Conduct inspections, fault finding and repairs to ensure plant reliability

Skills, experience and qualifications

- Certificate III including at least one year of relevant experience, or Certificate IV. At least 3 years of relevant experience may be accepted in place of the formal qualification.
- Relevant experience may also be required.
- Demonstrated experience in welding, fabrication and structural repairs
- Experience within mining, construction or heavy industry
- Working at Heights, Confined Space and Gas Test Atmospheres certification within 2 years
- Basic Fire




- White Card; driver’s licence and right to work; site inductions highly regarded

Boilermaker (Metal Fabricator)

Employment Responsibilities

- Fabrication, welding, repairs and preventative maintenance on mobile and fixed plant
- Structural repairs, modifications and maintenance
- Cutting, grinding, gouging, welding and fabrication
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Supporting planned shutdowns and breakdown maintenance
- Inspecting equipment for cracks, wear, defects and potential failure points
- Completing work orders, maintenance records and inspection documentation
- Working closely with Supervisors, trades and Operations teams to minimise downtime
- Maintaining a high standard of safety, quality and workmanship

Skills, experience and qualifications

- Certificate III including at least one year of relevant experience, or Certificate IV. At least 3 years of relevant experience may be accepted in place of the formal qualification.
- Relevant experience may also be required.
- Demonstrated experience in welding, fabrication and structural repairs
- Experience within mining, construction or heavy industry
- Working at Heights, Confined Space and Gas Test Atmospheres certification within 2 years
- Basic Fire
- White Card; driver’s licence and right to work; site inductions highly regarded

Desirable

- High Risk Work Licence – Forklift, Dogging, Rigging or EWP
- First Aid Certificate
- Welding certifications or additional trade competencies
- National Police Clearance
- Previous shutdown and major maintenance experience
- Currently BHP, MRL, Gold Mines inducted highly regarded
