Please note that this is a backfill role.

As a High Risk Infant Worker located in our St Marys (Inner South) office, you will exercise a holistic and dedicated approach to child protection through specialised assessments and support services for high-risk infants and their families. Your exemplary consultation skills will effectively guide complex and contentious casework to strengthen outcomes for vulnerable clientele. This highly skilled role is dependent on your professional expertise and ability to offer valuable leadership to maintain meaningful partnerships

This is a single vacancy offered under a dual classification. The successful applicant will be appointed at the appropriate classification level based on their qualifications, experience and suitability for the role.

Essential Qualifications:

- AHP (Allied Health Professional) positions require applicants to hold a Social Work qualification and be eligible for full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- PO (Professional Officer) positions require relevant qualifications in Community Services, Social Sciences, Human Services, Health or other related fields.

Persons of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, who have the appropriate background and skills but do not have the essential qualification, may apply for and be engaged/assigned to the role of Social Worker and will be entitled to apply for any Allied Health Professional roles requiring a qualification in Social Work within the Department for Child Protection (DCP).

In this role, you will:

- Provide specialist examinations of complex high-risk infants within a legislative framework
- Guide critical recommendations and interventions that strengthens infant specific models and DCP’s Practice Approach
- Liaise with Social Workers and Case Managers to bolster their relationships with families and carers to safeguard the wellbeing of clientele




- Maintain robust partnerships with DCP staff and external agencies through program development and training initiatives
- Facilitate service delivery improvements for high-risk infant cases that adheres to statutory requirements.

About you:

- You possess sound knowledge of the physical, social and emotional development of infants, children and young people
- You have high-level cultural and emotional intelligence to effectively understand the needs of clientele
- You can competently guide family interventions and behavioural change practices that enhance wellbeing outcomes
- You provide expert advice to less experienced case workers and DCP staff
- You promote inclusivity and ethical considerations when undertaking work duties.

Salary:

AHP2: $94,997 - $110,052 + 12% super
+4% child protection allowance
+Professional Development Allowance
+Qualification Allowance may apply if you hold an additional qualification relevant to the role.

PO2: $94,769 – $109.787 p.a. + 12% super
+Additional child protection allowance

AHP2 positions are also entitled to claim reimbursement of eligible professional development expenses through the Professional Development Allowance.
