About the opportunity The Senior Engineer – Renewables is a new role within the Regulatory Operations / Renewable Energy Safety division, responsible for delivering regulatory guidance to energy companies and ensuring compliance in the large-scale renewable energy sector. As the Senior Engineer – Renewables you will draw on industry insights, in particular, renewable infrastructure safety trends and engage and build robust relationships with stakeholders including external entities, Energy Safe leaders and teams to support projects or initiatives and to inform them of Energy Safe’s Regulatory Operations strategy. The focus of this role will be:

- Reviewing and assessing external companies’ safety cases and safety management plans;
- Providing guidance and formal feedback to companies so as to ensure that their obligations are met;
- Managing Energy Safe’s involvement in the licencing process, dealing with the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA)



and liaising with industry and government on major infrastructure projects;
- Managing reviews and assessments and making recommendations to Energy Safe’s management team on safety cases for generation and storage projects;
- Conducting incident and compliance investigations relevant to renewables and applying Energy Safe’s compliance and enforcement policy;
- Providing advice on renewable generation and storage infrastructure incidents in accordance with regulatory requirements; and
- Developing and maintaining effective relationships with government, peak bodies and industry and internal stakeholders.

To be successful, you will have:

- A passion and interest in the renewable energy industry and knowledge of regulatory practices relating to energy infrastructure safety (e.g. renewable energy generation and storage):
- A sound understanding of the principles and applications of safety management including asset management plans, strategies and safety management schemes;
- Highly developed conceptual and analytical skills.
- High-level communication skills and be experienced in presenting to senior staff and industry stakeholders;
- A tertiary qualification in engineering or a related field.
