About the role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Carpenter to join the team at Abode Building Contractors Pty Ltd. This is a full-time position based in North Rockhampton, QLD 4701. As a Carpenter, you will play a crucial role in the delivery of high-quality construction projects, contributing your expertise to ensure all work meets our exacting standards and is completed on schedule. This position offers the opportunity to work on diverse building projects whilst being part of a dynamic construction team.

What you'll be doing

- Interpret and work from architectural drawings and project specifications to construct, install, and finish wooden structures and frameworks

- Measure, cut, and shape timber and other materials using hand and power tools with precision and accuracy

- Assemble and install doors, windows, stairs, cabinetry, and other wooden components according to design requirements

- Prepare and finish timber surfaces including sanding, staining, and varnishing to achieve desired aesthetic and functional outcomes

- Conduct regular safety inspections of work areas and ensure compliance with workplace health and safety regulations

- Collaborate effectively with other tradespeople and construction team members to coordinate activities on site

- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order and ensure they are stored safely and appropriately

- Communicate with site supervisors and project managers regarding progress, challenges, and any variations to the scope of work

What we're looking for

- Recognised carpentry qualification or trade certification demonstrating competency in carpentry work

- Proven experience as a carpenter in the construction industry, with a solid portfolio of completed projects

- Proficiency with both hand tools and power tools, with excellent understanding of their safe and correct use

- Strong ability to interpret architectural drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications accurately





- Knowledge of building codes, safety standards, and best practices relevant to carpentry and construction

- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship

- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing project requirements

- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment

- Current drivers licence and willingness to travel to various job sites as required

- Valid White Card or willingness to obtain one prior to commencing employment
