The Organisation
A large, multi-faceted ASX-listed group operating across several distinct business divisions and geographies, with a growing presence throughout the Asia Pacific region. With multi-billion dollar turnover, the business is at an exciting stage of its development following a period of significant structural change and growth.
The Role
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, this is a newly created Corporate Accountant role sitting at the centre of the group's corporate finance function. You will work closely with the GFC and CFO to support the integrity of the group's financial records, assist with month-end close and consolidation, and take ownership of a range of corporate accounting responsibilities across a complex multi-entity environment — including exposure to tax, treasury and insurance functions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the month-end close process — preparing and reviewing journals, ensuring timetables are adhered to and deliverables are met on time
- Assisting with group consolidation, including intercompany reconciliations and eliminations
- Ownership of balance sheet reconciliations across a range of accounts, ensuring all recs are completed in line with the close timetable
- Supporting group tax compliance across multiple entities, including assistance with income tax, GST/BAS and transfer pricing obligations
- Providing support to the treasury function, including assistance with cash management, banking, and FX-related tasks
- Assisting with the management of the group's insurance program, including renewals and claims coordination
- Assisting with the management of fixed assets registers and AASB 16 lease accounting
- Supporting the preparation of statutory financial statements and ASX reporting
- Providing support on technical accounting matters, including business combination accounting and current standard implementation
- Contributing to process improvement initiatives across the corporate accounting function
- Supporting the external audit process, including preparation of audit workpapers and schedules
The Candidate
You are CA or CPA qualified — or progressing toward qualification — with solid technical accounting foundations and a genuine desire to develop your career in a complex, high-volume group environment. You are organised, reliable and proactively take ownership of your work.
You will bring:
- CA/CPA qualification (or working toward it) with strong AASB/IFRS technical knowledge
- Experience in a group or multi-entity accounting environment, ideally with exposure to consolidations and intercompany
- Some exposure to tax compliance, treasury or insurance functions — or a genuine appetite to develop across these areas
- A strong work ethic and a bias for getting things done — you meet deadlines and hold yourself to a high standard
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities and tight reporting timelines
- A collaborative approach — you work well as part of a small, high-performing team and pitch in where needed
- Strong attention to detail and a low tolerance for error in your own work
This is a great opportunity for a technically grounded accountant who wants to move beyond the routine and get genuine exposure to group reporting, statutory accounts, tax, treasury and the inner workings of a large ASX-listed business.
What's on Offer
- $135,000 - $145,000 + super inclusive of superannuation
- Hybrid working arrangements
- A newly created role with real scope to grow as the function develops
- Close exposure to a high-calibre GFC and CFO in a business going through genuine transformation
- Genuine breadth across group reporting, tax, treasury and insurance
