Pitstop Health is seeking an experienced Medical Receptionist to join our growing specialist mental health practice.

We are looking for someone who is organised, confident and personable, with the ability to manage a busy specialist medical reception environment independently and professionally.

About the role

Your responsibilities will include:
Providing a warm and professional reception experience for patients and families
Managing phone calls, emails and patient enquiries
Coordinating appointments, cancellations, referrals and waitlists
Managing clinician diaries and day-to-day scheduling
Processing Medicare, Workcover and NDIS billing, payments and patient accounts
Maintaining accurate patient records and documentation
Liaising with GPs, specialists, allied health professionals and external organisations
Managing more complex or sensitive patient enquiries appropriately
Supporting clinicians with day-to-day administrative requirements
Providing guidance and support to less experienced reception staff when required

About you

You will ideally have:
Minimum 12 months medical/allied health reception experience, preferably within a specialist or private practice




Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent organisation and attention to detail
Confidence managing competing priorities in a busy environment
Experience with Medicare, Workcover and NDIS billing
The ability to work independently and use sound judgement
A professional, calm and compassionate approach
Solid computer skills and the ability to learn recent systems quickly
Experience in psychiatry, psychology or mental health would be highly regarded but is not essential.
