Job Description
Some young people need more than a service.
They need someone who understands where they come from, respects their story and walks beside them on their journey.
This is a 0.6 Part-Time Fixed-Term Opportunity until 30 June ****
At headspaceBribie Island, we're looking for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Social & Emotional Wellbeing Worke who is passionate about creating meaningful change for young people, families and communities.
This role is specifically identified for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants.

Support young people experiencing mental health, social and emotional wellbeing challenges.
Help break down barriers that prevent young people from accessing support.
Create culturally safe pathways into mental health care and community services.
Deliver programs, activities and community initiatives that strengthen wellbeing, resilience and connection.
Ensure the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people are reflected in service delivery and planning.
This is a role where your cultural knowledge, lived experience, community connections and commitment to young people will genuinely make a difference.
About You
You may come from Youth Work, Community Services, Mental Health, Aboriginal Health, Social Services or a similar background.
Most Importantly, You're Someone Who
Is passionate about improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people.
Builds authentic relationships and trust within community.
Understands the social, cultural and systemic challenges faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people.
Brings a strengths-based, compassionate and culturally responsive approach to supporting others.
Enjoys working both independently and collaboratively as part of a supportive team.
Desired Skills And Experience
Qualification & Skills
Certificate IV in Mental Health, Aboriginal Health Care Practice, Youth Work, Community Services or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).




Experience supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, families and communities.
Strong understanding of social and emotional wellbeing and the factors impacting young people.
Ability to build trusted relationships and engage effectively with community stakeholders.
Experience facilitating youth programs, events or community initiatives.
Excellent communication skills and a strengths-based, person-centred approach.
Current Driver Licence and Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain)
What You'll Be Doing
Providing culturally appropriate social and emotional wellbeing support.
Coordinating care and connecting young people with the services they need.
Facilitating youth programs, community activities and health promotion initiatives.
Engaging with schools, community groups, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and local stakeholders.
Supporting headspace Bribie Island to continually strengthen cultural responsiveness across the service.
