Job Description
This is a full time, ongoing position for an experienced tradesperson with practical skills in the installation, servicing, maintenance and repair of air conditioning and refrigeration systems.

Key Responsibilities
n
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
n
n
Establishing job requirements from drawings and specifications and laying out installation reference points.
n
Drilling holes, installing mounting brackets, and cutting, bending and threading piping.
n
Installing and repairing components including compressors, motors, condensers, evaporators, switches and gauges.
n
Installing copper lines and piping for refrigerant, compressed air, gas, oil and chilled water systems as required.
n
Bolting, soldering, riveting, welding and brazing pipes to connect equipment and checking alignment and accuracy of fit.
n
Filling systems with gas or fluid and checking for leaks.
n
Test-operating refrigeration and air conditioning systems, checking mechanisms and making necessary adjustments.
n
Removing test gas and fluid using vacuum pumps and filling systems with refrigerant.
n
Checking and overhauling refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
n
Diagnosing faults and repairing or replacing defective components.
n
Adjusting system controls and mechanisms and reassembling systems.
n
Performing scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance and repairs.
n
Recording causes of equipment malfunction and corrective action taken.
n




Ensuring all work is performed safely and in accordance with relevant workplace procedures and industry standards.

Skills and Attributes
n The successful candidate will have:
n
n
Strong technical knowledge of air conditioning and refrigeration systems.
n
Demonstrated experience in diagnosing and repairing refrigeration and air conditioning faults.
n
Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans and technical specifications.
n
Positive troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
n
Strong attention to detail.
n
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
n
Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
n
A reliable and professional approach to work.
n
n
Applicants should have:
n
n
AQF Certificate III in a relevant field, including at least two years of on-the-job training; or
n
AQF Certificate IV in a relevant field; or
n
At least three years of relevant industry experience where relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification.
n
n
Relevant experience and/or additional on-the-job training may be required depending on the applicant's qualifications and background.
n
Applicants must have the practical skills and relevant experience necessary to perform the duties of an Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Mechanic.
n
Licensing
n The successful applicant must hold, or be able to obtain, any relevant Australian registration or licensing required to perform the duties of the position.
