Workfast is currently seeking an experienced Senior Health & Safety Advisor to join a leading heavy industrial operation based in Townsville.
n
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced H&S; professional to step into a senior role within a large-scale industrial environment, providing advice and support across the site while playing a key role in driving continuous improvement across health and safety performance.
n
About the Role
n
Reporting into the wider H&S; function, you will work closely with leaders and employees across the operation to provide practical health and safety support and advice.
n
Your responsibilities will include:
n
n
Providing senior H&S; advice and support across the site
n
Supporting leaders and employees with day-to-day health and safety matters
n
Driving continuous improvement initiatives across health and safety performance
n
Developing, implementing and continuously improving H&S; management systems, procedures and documentation
n
Supporting risk management and hazard identification processes
n
Leading and participating in incident investigations
n
Managing and supporting Management of Change (MoC) processes
n
Providing support across occupational hygiene and workplace exposure management
n
Assisting with ergonomic assessments and initiatives
n
Conducting and supporting H&S; audits
n
Monitoring legislative and regulatory requirements and ensuring compliance
n
Developing and implementing initiatives that improve overall safety performance
n
Working both in the field and office environment to provide practical safety solutions
n
n
About You
n
To be successful in this role, you will have significant experience working as a Health & Safety professional within a refinery, mining, manufacturing, heavy industrial or similar environment.
n
You will also have:
n
n
Relevant tertiary qualification in WHS or a related discipline (Cert IV, Diploma or Degree)
n




Strong knowledge of Queensland WHS legislation and its practical application in an industrial environment
n
Demonstrated experience developing and improving H&S; Management Systems
n
Strong experience across risk management and incident investigation
n
Experience with Management of Change (MoC)
n
Knowledge of occupational hygiene and ergonomics
n
Strong analytical, investigation and problem-solving skills
n
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
n
The ability to build strong relationships and influence positive safety outcomes
n
Ability to confidently work across both field and office environments
n
High level computer literacy
n
n
Highly Desirable
n
The following experience or qualifications will be highly regarded:
n
n
Occupational hygiene monitoring equipment and PPE experience
n
ICAM Lead Investigator qualification or equivalent
n
Formal auditing qualification and experience
n
Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
n
Emergency Response experience
n
Rehabilitation and Return to Work experience or qualifications
n
n
