We're looking for an experienced
Solaris Lighting Artist
to join an independent, artist-led VFX studio delivering high-end feature film and television work.
This is an
on-site role in Sydney to start in October
, with a contract available for up to one year.
International candidates are welcome, with
408 visa support and up to AUD $5,000 in relocation assistance
available for eligible candidates.
About the Studio
Our client is an independent VFX and animation studio specialising in design-led visual effects for film and television.
Based within one of Sydney's major film production locations, the team brings together experienced artists, filmmakers and supervisors with backgrounds across leading international VFX studios.
They work across Australian and international productions, collaborating with major studios, streamers and independent filmmakers.
Their capabilities span the full VFX pipeline, including concept development, on-set supervision, FX, animation, lighting and compositing.
The Role
You'll create and deliver
high-end, photorealistic lighting using Houdini Solaris
, integrating CG elements seamlessly with live-action photography.
Working closely with CG, FX, Compositing and VFX Supervisors,



you'll be responsible for lighting complex shots and sequences through to final delivery.
What You'll Do
Light and render photorealistic VFX shots using
Houdini Solaris
Create lighting setups for characters, creatures, environments and effects
Match lighting, exposure, colour and atmosphere to live-action plates and reference
Integrate CG elements convincingly into live-action environments
Develop efficient lighting and rendering workflows
Troubleshoot and optimise complex scenes and renders
Collaborate across CG, FX and Compositing
Deliver shots to production deadlines and quality standards
What We're Looking For
5+ years of professional VFX experience
Strong professional experience with
Houdini Solaris
A reel demonstrating high-end photorealistic lighting
Excellent understanding of light, colour, exposure, composition and physically based rendering
Strong understanding of CG integration and matching live-action plates
Experience across feature film, television or comparable high-end VFX productions
Strong artistic and technical problem-solving skills
Ability to independently manage complex shots through final delivery
Strong communication and collaborative skills
Location, Visa & Relocation
Candidates must be
available to commence in October and work on-site in Sydney
.
Those currently based elsewhere must be willing to relocate.
