Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) Coordinator

We have an opportunity for a talented Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ) Coordinator who will be responsible for establishing, maintaining, and auditing integrated management systems to ensure site safety, regulatory compliance, environmental sustainability, and product quality standards.
n
You'll be Responsible for
n
HSEQ Coordination & Support
n
n
Promote Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental principles across SMC ANZ.
n
Support leaders and operational teams with HSEQ policies, procedures, systems and requirements.
n
Assist with implementation, review and improvement of HSEQ processes and the Management System.
n
Maintain accurate, controlled HSEQ documentation and records.
n
Provide practical HSEQ guidance and escalatе significant risks, incidents and non-conformances.
n
n
HSEQ Compliance
n
n
Maintain awareness of applicable Australian and New Zealand HSEQ legislation, Codes of Practice and ISO requirements.
n
Maintain compliance obligations and support periodic compliance reviews.
n
Conduct inspections and support internal/external audits and certification activities.
n
Coordinate audit evidence and follow up corrective actions to completion.
n
n
Quality Assurance & Manufacturing Quality
n
n
Support quality standards, processes and controls across Operations.
n
Conduct quality surveillance, sampling, incoming inspections and preventative quality checks.
n
Verify inspection, testing and process controls and identify non-conformances.
n
Support Quality Control Plans, ITPs, SOPs, containment and corrective actions.
n
Support calibration and inspection of measuring equipment and maintain records.
n
Assist with HSEQ risk assessments and reviews.
n
Identify risks and support implementation and monitoring of effective controls.
n
Participate in risk assessments for new equipment, materials, processes, projects and changes.
n
Review risks following incidents, changes and non-conformances.
n
n
Incident & Non-Conformance Management
n
n
Support reporting, investigation and recording of HSEQ incidents, near misses and quality non-conformances.
n
Assist with root cause analysis, corrective actions and lessons learned.
n
Maintain corrective action registers and verify action completion.
n
Support product containment and recall activities where required.
n
Escalate significant or recurring issues.
n
n
HSE Inspections & Workplace Safety
n
n
Conduct routine HSE inspections across manufacturing, warehouse, office and operational areas.
n
Identify hazards and unsafe practices and follow up corrective actions.
n
Support inspections of high-risk activities, machinery,



chemicals and emergency equipment.
n
Support emergency preparedness, drills and contractor HSE requirements.
n
n
Training & Communication
n
n
Coordinate and support HSEQ training, inductions and toolbox talks.
n
Assist with development of training materials and awareness communications.
n
Support employees and frontline leaders with HSEQ processes, reporting and risk controls.
n
Maintain training and competency records.
n
n
HSEQ Management System & Documentation
n
n
Maintain HSEQ procedures, forms, checklists, work instructions and records.
n
Coordinate document reviews and ensure controlled information is current and accessible.
n
Support HSEQ software administration, including MANGO or equivalent.
n
Ensure HSEQ data and records are accurate and up to date.
n
n
Supplier, Contractor & Operational Support
n
n
Support supplier HSEQ qualification activities, inspections and corrective actions.
n
Assist with contractor HSEQ compliance, documentation and induction.
n
Support HSEQ requirements for new suppliers, materials, equipment and processes.
n
Escalate significant supplier or contractor issues.
n
n
New Products, Projects & Change
n
n
Provide HSEQ support for NPD/NPI, new or modified processes and equipment, suppliers, materials and manufacturing projects.
n
Support Change Management, risk assessments, control verification, inspections and validation activities.
n
Identify and support improvements to HSEQ processes, controls and documentation.
n
Participate in Lean and continuous improvement initiatives.
n
Support reduction of defects, rework, scrap, waste and environmental impacts.
n
Share lessons learned and monitor improvement effectiveness.
n
n
HSEQ Reporting & KPIs
n
n
Collect and maintain HSEQ performance data and registers.
n
Prepare reports and dashboards and monitor agreed KPIs and trends.
n
Provide timely HSEQ information to management and support management reviews.
n
Coordinate ANZ HSE/Safety Committee meetings, minutes and action registers.
n
Follow up actions and communicate relevant initiatives and outcomes.
n
Provide administrative support for return-to-work and workers' compensation activities in liaison with People & Culture.
n
Maintain records and support stakeholder communication and agreed actions.
n
Other relevant responsibilities to the role.

About You
n
Qualifications
n
n
Ability to read engineering drawings. Diploma in mechanical engineering or other engineering fields (preferred).
n
Relevant tertiary qualifications in quality, health & safety, environment, or equivalent relevant industry experience (preferred).
n
n
Experience & Background
n
n
5+ years' experience in QHSE, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
n
Practical knowledge of ISO ****, ISO ***** and/or ISO ***** and relevant industry standards.
n
Working knowledge of Australian and New Zealand HSE legislation and Codes of Practice.
n
Experience developing and delivering HSE training and supporting safety culture and capability.
n
Experience coordinating projects addressing HSE and environmental risks.
n
Experience supporting incident investigations, return-to-work and workers' compensation processes.
n
Ability to read engineering drawings and use precision measuring equipment and tools.
n
Strong commitment to safety, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
n
Strong analytical, planning and problem-solving skills, with experience supporting policies and procedures.
n
Ability to analyse and report HSEQ data and KPIs.
n
Excellent written and verbal communication and strong stakeholder management skills.
n
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
