Our client is a growing commercial law firm seeking an experienced Senior Property Associate to join its Melbourne practice.

This is an prospect for an accomplished property lawyer to take ownership of a sophisticated portfolio of property and development transactions, working directly with the Principal while supervising and mentoring junior members of the Property team.

The practice works across a diverse range of commercial and specialist property developments, with transactions regularly exceeding $10 million and ranging up to approximately $150 million.

You will be technically strong property lawyer who can independently manage complex transactions, provide commercially practical advice and confidently work with sophisticated clients.

Independently manage sophisticated property and development transactions.
n
Work directly with the Principal with a high degree of autonomy.
n
Exposure to complex development structures and high-value transactions.
n
Diverse projects including childcare, medical, student accommodation, co-living, data centres, renewable energy and greenfield developments.
n
Mentor and supervise junior lawyers and paralegals.
n
Melbourne CBD office with genuine longer-term career progression.

What You'll Do
n
n
Independently manage property transactions from commencement to completion across acquisitions and disposals, developments, subdivisions, off-the-plan projects and general property matters.
n
Advise on complex development and transaction structures including options, development management agreements, joint ventures and project-specific arrangements.
n
Draft,



review and negotiate commercial and retail leases, agreements for lease and other property documentation.
n
Conduct and oversee complex property due diligence and advise on title and transaction-related issues.
n
Advise on property financing and refinancing transactions and associated documentation.
n
Work across Victorian and interstate property transactions, with exposure to NSW, Queensland and Western Australia particularly valued.
n
Manage key client relationships and work collaboratively with financiers, accountants, consultants and other professional advisers.
n
Supervise and mentor junior lawyers and paralegals, including delegating and reviewing work and providing technical guidance.

What You'll Bring
n
n
Ideally 4+ years PQE with strong Property Law experience.
n
Demonstrated ability to independently manage sophisticated property transactions.
n
Strong experience across acquisitions and disposals, development, subdivisions/off-the-plan projects, leasing and due diligence.
n
Excellent property drafting and negotiation capability.
n
Strong commercial judgement and confidence advising sophisticated clients.
n
Experience with complex development structures will be highly regarded.
n
Experience across multiple Australian jurisdictions would be advantageous.
n
FIRB experience is beneficial but not essential.
n
Experience supervising or mentoring junior lawyers and paralegals.
n
