The Opportunity:
n
Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll lead the procurement strategy across the business and take responsibility for commercial buying outcomes, supplier relationships, continuity of supply and margin improvement. This is a senior procurement opportunity with a large national meat company purchasing approximately $130M of meat commodities annually. The business is strengthening its procurement function and requires an experienced commercial leader who already understands the Australian red meat market, knows the packers and has established buying relationships. This is NOT an opportunity for someone looking to enter the meat industry. Existing packer relationships are essential.

The Role:
n
Developing and implementing a national procurement strategy.
n
Managing aa minimum of $130M in annual procurement within a growing company.
n
Maintaining and strengthening relationships with producers, processors and packers.
n
Negotiating pricing, supplier agreements, rebates and commercial terms.
n
Monitoring commodity pricing, market movements, supply availability and emerging risks.
n
Improving buying decisions through accurate forecasting,



market analysis and commercial reporting.
n
Establishing greater structure, discipline and accountability across procurement.
n
Developing supplier performance measures and conducting regular commercial reviews.
n
Managing product specifications, quality requirements and continuity of supply.
n
Working closely with sales, operations, production, finance and logistics.
n
The Candidate:
n
Must have significant meat procurement or trading experience where you were responsible for sourcing your own meat commodities and have an established network of packer relationships.
n
A strong understanding of meat commodities, pricing, supply and market movements.
n
Experience negotiating significant supply agreements in large volumes.
n
Strong commercial judgement and negotiation skills.
n
The ability to protect margin while maintaining quality and continuity of supply.
n
Experience managing large purchasing volumes and commercial risk.
n
Solid analytical, forecasting and reporting capabilities.
n
The credibility to influence senior leaders, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
n
The ability to bring greater structure, discipline and strategy to a major procurement function.

The Offer:
n
The salary on offer is $175,000 plus superannuation + superannuation + STIP. This is a full time permanent position based on site in Southeast Queensland, reporting directly to the CEO. Its a genuine opportunity to influence procurement strategy and commercial performance across a national business. The position is based on site within convenient reach of both Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
