Job Description
Change Exchange is seeking a Containers for Change Attendant to join our team on a casual basis at our Coolum Beach depot. This hands-on role combines customer service, recycling operations, and warehouse activities to help deliver an efficient and positive recycling experience for our customers.

As part of our team, you will assist with the collection, sorting, processing, and handling of eligible beverage containers while maintaining a safe, clean, and organised work environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys physical work, interacting with customers, and contributing to environmental sustainability.

Key Responsibilities
n

Accept, sort and process eligible beverage containers in accordance with Containers for Change guidelines
n
Provide friendly and professional customer service to members of the public
n
Verify container eligibility and identify non-conforming items
n
Operate counting, scanning and point-of-sale systems accurately
n
Process customer refunds and transactions in accordance with company procedures
n
Sort containers by material type and prepare them for transport and recycling
n
Operate forklifts safely to move pallets, cages, bins and bulk recycling materials throughout the depot
n
Load and unload trucks, trailers and collection vehicles
n
Assist with baling and storage of recyclable materials where required
n
Maintain accurate records of container volumes and operational activities
n
Keep the depot clean, tidy and free from hazards through regular housekeeping activities
n
Follow workplace health and safety procedures and report hazards, incidents and maintenance issues promptly
n
Work collaboratively with team members to ensure efficient depot operations
n
Assist with stock control and monitoring of operational supplies including bags, labels, PPE and cleaning materials
n




Support depot opening and closing procedures as required
n

What We're Looking For
n
n
Current Forklift Licence (essential)
n
Ability to work in a physically demanding workplace, including lifting, carrying, pushing and moving recyclable materials
n
Strong customer service and communication skills
n
Reliable, punctual and self-motivated with a positive attitude
n
Ability to work safely and follow established procedures
n
Basic computer skills and ability to use point-of-sale systems
n
Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high operational standards
n
Previous experience in warehousing, recycling, waste management, logistics, retail or similar industries highly regarded
n
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
n
Flexible availability, including weekend work where required
n

Requirements

Current Forklift Licence (mandatory)
n
Steel-capped safety boots (mandatory)
n
Current Driver's Licence preferred
n
Capacity to undertake manual handling tasks throughout the shift
n
n
All other required PPE is supplied by Change Exchange.
