Job Description
You will be responsible for preparing fresh, nutritious and child-friendly meals and snacks for the children at our service, while maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness.

Key responsibilities

Prepare and cook nutritious, balanced meals and snacks for children throughout the day
n
Follow the centre's menus and nutritional guidelines
n
Cater confidently and safely for food allergies, intolerances and dietary requirements
n
Maintain excellent food safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness standards
n
Follow safe food handling, storage and preparation procedures
n
Monitor food supplies and assist with ordering and stock management
n
Keep accurate records as required, including food safety and allergy documentation
n
Work collaboratively with the service team to ensure children's individual dietary needs are met
n
Maintain a clean, organised and welcoming kitchen environment
n
Follow all centre policies and procedures relating to food safety, child safety and child protection
n

Enjoys cooking and takes pride in preparing meals for children
n




Has knowledge and confidence in managing food allergies and dietary requirements
n
Is reliable, organised and able to work independently
n
Has good food hygiene and safe food‐handling practices
n
Is comfortable working around young children and understands the importance of creating a safe environment
n
Has a positive and friendly attitude
n
Is willing to learn and follow childcare service policies and procedures
n
Hold a current Working with Children Check (WWCC)
n
Hold a current Criminal History Check
n
Hold a Food Safety Supervisor Certificate, or be willing to obtain one
n
Have a positive understanding of food allergies, intolerances and dietary requirements, or be willing to develop this knowledge
n
