Kiara College is a vibrant learning community located on the western edge of the Swan Valley. We are a proudly Independent Public School catering for Years 7 to 12 where we offer comprehensive and innovative programs that support students to achieve their potential. Students can follow an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR), General or Vocational Education and Training (VET) pathways, preparing them for university entry, TAFE, or employment. Our partnerships with tertiary institutions such as UWA Aspire, ECU UniPrep and North Metro TAFE facilitate students' success beyond school. We offer two Specialist Programs: Agriculture, with the benefit of working farm, and Basketball. Students are also able to study Contemporary Music.

The Role
n
Kiara College is ideally seeking an innovative and dynamic Head of Learning Area (HOLA) – English to lead English education across the College. The successful applicant will ideally possess outstanding leadership, organisational and interpersonal skills, while modelling a positive and engaging approach to student learning.
n
The successful applicant would have the opportunity to join a committed leadership team focused on providing a supportive,



inclusive and high-quality educational environment for all students. Kiara College is dedicated to developing students' knowledge, skills, confidence and character through effective teaching and learning practices.
n
The successful applicant will ideally lead the ongoing development, implementation and evaluation of English teaching and learning programs across the College. They would promote an environment of active, positive and purposeful learning, while providing educational opportunities that enable students to achieve their highest potential.
n
Ideally, with effective interpersonal and communication skills, the successful applicant will work collaboratively with students, colleagues, families and the wider College community to achieve the best possible educational outcomes. The HOLA would play an integral role in modelling exemplary practice, supporting professional growth and building the capacity of the English team to maintain high standards of teaching, learning and student achievement.

The English Learning Area is supported by a team of committed and dedicated teachers who deliver engaging and innovative programs across the secondary years. The successful applicant will ideally have the capacity to lead the delivery of high-quality teaching, learning and assessment programs, aligned with the Western Australian Curriculum and, where applicable, Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) courses.

Eligibility

be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.

hold registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia

obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and

consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
