Disability Support Worker — Evenings & Weekends

Carexcell is looking for a Disability Support Worker who genuinely lights up talking about Transformers, can hold their own in a Lego build, and knows random (but interesting!) facts about all sorts of things.
n
You'll be working one-to-one and in small groups with neurodivergent young people aged 15 to 30 across Hornsby and the north shore. This isn't sitting in a lounge room watching the clock. It's building rapport through the things they actually care about — gaming, music, film, collecting, tabletop campaigns, puzzles, whatever their thing is — and using that connection to build real-world skills: catching public transport, ordering at a café, managing a budget, holding a conversation with someone current, getting to a gig and home again.

You'll be the right fit if you

Are fluent in current pop culture and can talk about it without faking it

Have run or played D&D;,



or you're keen to learn quick

Get why someone might want to spend two hours discussing G1 versus Bayverse Optimus
n
Are steady and unflappable when someone's dysregulated, needs quiet, or when the plan needs to change entirely
n
Can tell the difference between someone who needs encouragement and someone who needs a break
n
Can adapt your communication style without being condescending about it
n

What you'll need

NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain)
n
Working with Children Check — essential, as some participants are under 18
n
Current First Aid and CPR
n
Driver's licence and a reliable, comprehensively insured vehicle
n
NDIS Worker Orientation Module completed
n
Cert III in Individual Support or equivalent is great, but lived experience and the right attitude count for a lot
n
