About the Role 4 Square Homes Pty Ltd in SA is seeking a qualified, experienced Civil Engineer to join their team.
The Civil Engineer will provide professional civil engineering input across the planning, design coordination and construction delivery of residential, commercial and associated building projects.
The role will assess engineering drawings and technical documentation, provide engineering advice on construction methodology and site conditions, coordinate civil engineering requirements, conduct site inspections and technical assessments, and support quality assurance and project completion activities.
The Civil Engineer will work closely with Project Managers, architects, structural engineers, site supervisors, contractors, subcontractors, consultants and suppliers to ensure that engineering and construction activities comply with approved drawings, specifications, the National Construction Code (NCC), relevant Australian Standards, WHS requirements and other applicable regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities • Plan, coordinate and provide professional civil engineering input for residential and commercial construction projects.
• Review and interpret civil, structural and architectural drawings, plans, specifications and technical documentation.
• Develop and review construction methods, work sequencing, materials and engineering procedures to meet project-specific technical requirements.
• Coordinate engineering requirements with Project Managers, architects, structural engineers, contractors and site supervisors.
• Conduct site inspections and monitor construction progress, workmanship and compliance with approved designs and specifications.
• Provide technical engineering advice on construction methods, materials, site conditions, civil works and project-specific engineering requirements.
• Coordinate civil works, including earthworks, foundations, concrete works, drainage, stormwater, sewerage, services and associated infrastructure.




• Review geotechnical reports, survey information and site data, and provide engineering input on excavation, ground conditions, foundations, earthworks and associated civil works.
• Identify construction defects, non-conforming work and technical issues, and coordinate appropriate corrective action.
• Assist with estimating quantities, materials, labour requirements and construction costs from engineering drawings and specifications.
• Monitor project schedules and milestones, and identify engineering issues, delays and construction constraints.
• Assess design changes and variations and their impact on quantities, costs, construction methodology and project timeframes.
• Undertake technical assessments and, where required, perform engineering calculations to resolve construction and engineering problems using civil engineering principles.
• Coordinate civil, structural, architectural and building services requirements to minimise design and construction conflicts.
• Review the technical suitability and requirements of construction materials, plant and equipment in consultation with site personnel and suppliers.
• Undertake and coordinate quality assurance activities, including testing, inspections, defect rectification and engineering verification, during project delivery and completion.
• Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including inspection records, technical reports, drawings, measurements, variations, and progress reports.
• Attend project meetings and provide technical updates on construction progress, design changes,



site conditions and engineering issues.
• Review completed works against approved drawings and specifications, and assist with handover and as-built documentation.
• Identify project and engineering risks and recommend practical mitigation and corrective actions.
• Identify opportunities to improve construction methods, engineering coordination, quality control, and project delivery processes.
Skills and Experience The successful applicant will ideally have: • A Bachelor's degree or higher qualification in Civil Engineering, or an equivalent relevant engineering qualification.
• At least 2 years of relevant professional civil engineering experience is preferred, particularly in construction or building projects.
• Experience interpreting civil, structural and architectural drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of construction methods, materials, site operations and engineering principles.
• Experience with residential and/or commercial construction projects.
• Strong understanding of quality assurance, site inspections and construction compliance.
• Ability to identify and resolve engineering and construction issues.
• Solid organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to coordinate effectively with consultants, contractors, suppliers and project stakeholders.
• Working knowledge of the National Construction Code (NCC), relevant Australian Standards, WHS requirements, building requirements and Australian construction practices.
• Competency with relevant engineering, drafting and project-management software.
