About The Role The Team Leader - Development Services is responsible for supervising a team of assessment planners and specialists to ensure timely and accurate evaluation of development proposals.
This role emphasises the importance of high-quality customer service and adherence to Council's Development Services Customer Charter, while providing expert advice to stakeholders throughout the assessment process.
Key Responsibilities Manage a specialist team, ensuring alignment with Council's strategic goals and objectives.
Promote a culture of continuous improvement and actively seek innovative solutions to enhance service delivery.
Uphold workplace safety and well-being, ensuring compliance with Council policies and safety laws.
Build strong partnerships with external stakeholders, including community groups, contractors, and government agencies.
Foster an inclusive and diverse workplace, respecting all individuals and their experiences.
Implement performance measures to maintain accountability and identify potential risks.
Encourage professional development opportunities for team members through Council's training programs.
Utilise resources effectively, focusing on sustainability and safety in all operations.
Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in development assessment within the local government sector, complemented by strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
A commitment to customer service excellence and continuous improvement is essential for this role.
Tertiary qualifications in Urban Planning or a related field.
A current Class C Drivers Licence and General Construction Induction Card (NSW).
Extensive experience in development assessment, particularly in complex matters.
Strong negotiation skills, particularly in the context of the NSW Land Environment Court.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to mentor staff and improve processes and procedures.

Hours of work: Working 35 hours per week.
You will have the option of a 19 day month with Council's ADO system (Accrued Day Off).
