We are seeking an enthusiastic and organised Event Support Officer to join our Executive Support team for a temporary period and assist in the delivery of Council's civic events, functions and ceremonies.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, has strong administrative and customer service skills, and thrives on delivering memorable experiences for the community.
About the Role Reporting to the Executive Officer, you will provide administrative, operational and event delivery support to Council's Civic Events Team.
You will assist with the planning, coordination and delivery of a range of civic and community events including citizenship ceremonies, civic receptions, official openings, award presentations, school tours, VIP engagements and other protocol functions.
Key responsibilities include: Assisting with the planning, coordination and delivery of civic events and functions.
Supporting event setup, pack down, registration and guest management.
Coordinating event administration, registrations, databases and documentation.
Preparing run sheets, guest lists, briefing notes and event materials.
Responding to enquiries from residents,



community organisations, businesses and stakeholders.
Assisting with event risk assessments and safety requirements.
Liaising with suppliers, contractors, community groups and internal stakeholders.
Supporting VIP, Mayoral and Councillor engagements and protocol activities.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following key skills and attributes: We are looking for someone who is highly organised, customer focused and enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate: Experience in administration, event coordination or customer service.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Robust organisational skills and attention to detail.
The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
Confidence working with a variety of stakeholders.
Sound computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office applications.
A professional and solutions-focused approach.
A willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends to support civic events and functions.
Qualifications in Event Management, Business Administration or a related field (desirable).
Experience within local government, government or a protocol-focused environment (desirable).
Current Class C Driver Licence.
Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.
