The Catering Group is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Cafe Chef to join the team at Awaba House in Booragul, NSW. This is a part-time position that offers a fantastic opportunity to showcase your culinary skills in a welcoming café environment. As a Cafe Chef, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality food and exceptional customer experiences. Key responsibilities
n
Prepare and cook a variety of café dishes, including breakfast items, lunch specials, pastries, and hot and cold beverages, adhering to quality and presentation standards
n
Maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards in all food preparation areas, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and company policies
n
Manage food inventory, including stock rotation, ordering supplies, and maintaining organised storage systems
n
Work efficiently during peak service times, managing multiple orders whilst maintaining food quality and consistency
n
Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service delivery and customer satisfaction
n
Prepare ingredients in advance, including chopping, marinating, and portioning, to optimise service efficiency
n
Maintain and care for kitchen equipment, reporting any faults or maintenance issues promptly
n
Contribute to menu development and suggestions for seasonal or special dishes
n
Support the kitchen team in maintaining a clean, organised and safe working workplace
n
What we're looking for
n
Proven experience working as a Cafe Chef, Cook, or in a similar culinary role within a hospitality setting
n




Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and ability to cook a diverse range of café-style dishes to a high standard
n
Excellent understanding of food safety, hygiene regulations and best practices
n
Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service periods whilst maintaining attention to detail
n
Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks
n
A friendly, professional attitude with excellent communication and teamwork skills
n
Reliability and punctuality, particularly important for part-time shift work
n
Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, afternoons, and weekends as required
n
Current Food Safety Certificate or willingness to obtain one
n
Preferred: Experience in a café, club or similar casual dining environment
