To learn more about us, please go to our website ************************************> The Role: Our Animal Attendant roles are an important entry point into the emergency and critical care environment and provide an opportunity for veterinary nurses at the beginning of their careers to develop their confidence, practical skills and understanding of a busy hospital environment.
We welcome applications from Certificate IV Veterinary Nurses, including those who have recently qualified and may not yet have post qualification nursing experience, as well as candidates who are nearing completion of their Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.
While many of our Animal Attendants aspire to progress into ECC or referral nursing in the future, it is important to understand that the Animal Attendant role is not a fast track program.
Developing the skills and experience required to progress within an emergency and referral hospital takes time, consistency and commitment.
As an Animal Attendant, you will build your experience from the ground up while playing an essential role within the hospital.
You will support hospital hygiene, organisation, patient care and efficient workflows, while gaining exposure to a diverse range of patients, including the handling and care of wildlife presenting to the hospital.
We are looking for people who are eager to learn, comfortable asking questions, receptive to feedback and genuinely value the essential work that keeps a busy hospital running.
Your Duties Responsibilities:



Maintain high standards of hospital hygiene and presentation across all clinical areas Ensure efficient restocking and setup of treatment areas to support smooth workflows Provide hands on support with patient care including feeding, bedding, cleaning and patient comfort Safely handle patients and support nurses and veterinarians with procedures as directed Assist with the safe handling, care and management of wildlife patients presenting to the hospital Assist with surgical area setup and pack processing, ensuring readiness and sterility Provide reception cover when required, including welcoming clients and patients Apply, or be willing to learn, our Low Stress Handling techniques in all patient interactions Your Skills Experience: A genuine interest in developing your veterinary nursing skills within a busy hospital environment An understanding of hospital hygiene, patient care and veterinary clinic workflows developed through employment, study or clinical placement The ability to follow direction and complete tasks reliably in a fast paced environment Developing or established patient handling skills, with a willingness to learn Low Stress Handling techniques Strong communication, organisation and time management skills A willingness to ask questions, seek support, accept feedback and continuously improve A proactive and team focused approach Requirements: Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing completed or nearing completion Applications are welcomed from newly qualified Veterinary Nurses,



including candidates who have not yet gained nursing experience following completion of their qualification Candidates who are still completing their Certificate IV should be able to provide information regarding their current progress and anticipated completion date Willingness to follow the AREC guidelines and expectations outlined in the AREC Progression Plan to support consistent development and advancement Availability for shift work including a variety of early morning, afternoon, evening, overnight and weekend shifts Flexibility to work public holidays.
