Macarthur Lung & Sleep is seeking a motivated Sleep Technician or Junior Sleep Scientist to join our specialist respiratory and sleep medicine team. This is a predominantly daytime, patient-facing position focusing on CPAP therapy, PAP troubleshooting, patient education, home diagnostic sleep studies and sleep-laboratory support. Previous sleep-medicine experience is advantageous but not essential. Applicants with an appropriate health or science qualification and a genuine interest in developing a career in sleep medicine are encouraged to apply. Structured on-site training, supervision and ongoing support will be provided according to experience and competency. Optional overnight sleep-laboratory shifts may also be available to interested applicants but are not an essential requirement of the position.

Key responsibilities

Set up CPAP and APAP therapy and educate patients regarding treatment.
n
Perform CPAP mask fitting and assist with leak, comfort, adherence and tolerance problems.
n
Troubleshoot CPAP and Bi-level PAP equipment.
n
Set up and review Auto-CPAP trials.
n
Assist with Bi-level PAP trials.
n
Download and review PAP therapy data, including usage, leak, residual events and adherence.
n
Conduct booked telephone follow-up consultations with CPAP patients.
n
Set up NOX home diagnostic sleep-study devices and educate patients regarding their use.

Download,



check and upload completed home sleep studies.

Prepare and check equipment for overnight sleep-laboratory studies.

About you
n
n
A relevant tertiary qualification in sleep science, medical science, physiology, respiratory science, nursing or another related healthcare discipline.
n
Current qualified registration where applicable.
n
A genuine interest in sleep medicine and CPAP therapy.
n
Strong communication and patient-education skills.
n
Confidence working directly with patients from diverse backgrounds.
n
Good computer skills and an interest in medical technology.
n
Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation skills.
n
Valuable organisation, reliability and time-management skills.
n
The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary clinical team.
n
A willingness to undertake structured clinical and technical training.

Macarthur Lung & Sleep operates an established five-bed sleep laboratory and comprehensive ambulatory sleep service. Our services include in-laboratory diagnostic polysomnography, home diagnostic sleep studies, CPAP and Bi-level PAP titration, CPAP and Bi-level PAP trials, MSLT and MWT daytime studies, nocturnal oximetry, and positional sleep therapy. The role provides exposure to sleep and respiratory equipment from NOX/Temple Medical, ResMed, Philips Respironics, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare and other major manufacturers.
