St John of God Burwood Hospital is a 95-bed private mental health hospital providing comprehensive mental health care services.

We offer a range of treatments for conditions including depression, mood disorders, anxiety, psychosis, perinatal mental health issues and general psychiatry services including ECT and TMS.
St John of God Burwood Hospital, you will bring your skills, knowledge and confidence to the role of, Perinatal Psychiatry Registrar.
You will admit and provide psychiatric care to patients admitted under the supervising psychiatrist.
You will work closely with Consultant Psychiatrists as part of dedicated multidisciplinary clinical teams.
This fixed term full-time position (38 hours per week) offers the opportunity to collaborate with experienced healthcare professionals while delivering high-quality psychiatric and medical care within a supportive and patient-focused environment.
The role
Provide care to patients on the mother-baby unit
Conduct outpatient clinics at the Burwood Medical Centre To participate in Psychiatric Registrar Training Program activities.
Participate in research and quality Improvement activities as directed.




Interim discharge summary completed within 48 hours and final discharge summary completed within 14 days of discharge.
Act as a resource and support to Unit Managers and other clinical staff.
Assume responsibility for organising own workload, in collaboration with supervisor, to complete agreed upon duties within agreed time frame per clinical indicators
Assist in providing ward cover to the hospital if required.
You will hold general registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA) and have at least three years of clinical experience in a healthcare setting.
You will demonstrate a genuine interest in Perinatal Psychiatry and be committed to delivering high-quality patient care while working under the guidance and supervision of senior clinicians.
You will be dedicated to the wellbeing of mothers and babies/ female patients and will provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care across both inpatient and outpatient settings.
Working within the specialised Mother and Baby Unit and the Mums and Kids Matter program, you will support women experiencing perinatal mental health challenges while promoting healthy mother-infant attachment and family wellbeing.
