Build it from day one.We are opening a new 2,500 square metre powder coating facility in Welshpool, Perth, the first site of a planned national network.
Reporting to the owner, you will be hands on from day one, setting up the site, building the team, and owning quoting, client contact and delivery.Based in Perth, Western Australia: a fixed site role, home every night.
Relocation support available for the right interstate candidate.What You'll DoRunning the FloorPlan and control production to meet priorities, customer deadlines and output targetsCoordinate workflow from preparation and loading through powder application, curing, quality checks and handoverAllocate labour, manage priorities and remove bottlenecksMonitor capacity, downtime and job progressBuilding the TeamLead, coach and hold the production team accountableManage rosters, staffing and workforce planning as the team growsSupport onboarding, training and skills developmentDrive a safety first culture, including housekeeping, protected work practices and toolbox communicationWork closely with the Operations Manager to coordinate maintenance while keeping production on trackQuality ControlMaintain consistent powder coating quality against customer requirementsControl process settings, curing, colour changeovers, material use and quality checksInvestigate quality issues and implement corrective actionsOwn key KPIs including output, on time delivery, labour efficiency, downtime, rework and material wasteOwn the Commercial SideSet the price and win the work: quote every coating and fabrication job through SteelheadBe the face of the business for every client,



from first enquiry to delivered jobBuild the relationships that grow repeat business with fabricators and industrial customersWhat You'll BringFive or more years leading production in powder coating, galvanising, industrial coatings, metal finishing or fabricationExperience quoting and pricing coating or fabrication work, and confidence dealing directly with clientsA strong understanding of production planning, workflow and labour allocationPractical knowledge of powder coating processes, quality control and the common causes of defects and reworkA proven record of leading and developing a production teamA strong safety mindset and confidence on the workshop floorHands on, calm under pressure and quick to solve problemsCommissioning or setup experience is a strong advantage, not a requirementRelevant trade, manufacturing or technical qualifications are an advantageWhy Join UsA salary package of $130k to $150k plus super, with a KPI bonus of up to $40,000Genuine autonomy: you set the price, own the client relationship and run the floor, this isn't a role where someone else makes the callsYou'll set the standards this site runs on, not inherit someone else'sRelocation support for the right interstate candidate, covering your move, temporary accommodation while you settle, and a look and see trip to Perth for you and your partnerA fixed site role in Perth, home every night.A direct line to the owner and real authority over how the site runsA route to Operations Manager as the site matures, and to a national role as further facilities openAn established Perth business behind you with existing operations, systems and supportPerth-based role.
