Sea Change Health Professionals is looking for an Occupational Therapist with an interest or background in Aged Care to join our Illawarra team.
This isn't a generic OT role where you're expected to be everything to everyone.
We want to continue building our OT capability and are looking for someone who enjoys working with people experiencing at home ageing issues, complex needs and challenges with everyday function.
Whether you're an experienced OT or a clinician who wants to move into this area and learn from those who are already doing it well, we want to hear from you.
You'll be part of a broader multidisciplinary allied health team, with our Shellharbour office providing a local base for collaboration, report writing, mentoring, meetings and catching up with the team.
What the role looks like
Your caseload will have a robust focus on aged home care and functional capacity, working with people in their own homes and communities.
Depending on your experience and interests, your work may include:
Functional capacity assessments
OT assessments




Understanding the impact of ageing on everyday function
Establishing routines, structure and meaningful daily activity
Organisational strategies
Assessment and intervention
Independent living and community participation
Capacity building interventions
Home and living recommendations
Working collaboratively with families, support coordinators, support workers and other health professionals
Preparing clear, practical and evidence based reports and recommendations
Keeping seniors out of hospitals is our main goal!
We want our OTs spending their time doing work that has a genuine impact, not producing recommendations that disappear into a report and are never seen again.
The kind of OT we're looking for
You might already be working predominantly in aged care, or you may be an experienced community OT who wants to move further into this area and build your skills alongside clinicians who know it well.
You will ideally have:
AHPRA registration as an Occupational Therapist
Experience or a solid clinical interest in aged care
Confidence working independently in the community, or a willingness to build this confidence with support
Strong clinical reasoning and communication skills
An ability to build rapport with clients who may have complex presentations




Good written assessment and report writing skills
A practical, person centred approach to therapy
A current driver's licence and ability to travel locally
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who enjoys understanding why a person is struggling to function and what can practically be changed to improve their life.
