The Orchard Supervisor reports directly to the Orchard Manager and supports the overall supervision of staff and daily farming operations.
A key focus of this role is ensuring adherence to WH&S; practices.
This is a hands-on position that involves active field work and engagement as well as administrative duties when required.Key responsibilitiesSupervise and train staff and contractors ensuring set work schedules are met within budget and company guidelinesEnsure compliance with all aspects of WH&S; and quality standardsMonitor efficiency targets are being met and operational procedures are being adhered toEnsure inductions are completed and being adhered toParticipate hands-on in day-to-day farming operations including field work and practical tasksDeliver toolbox talks to staff as requiredMonitor irrigation and oversee the irrigation schedule in conjunction with the Orchard Manager and irrigation staffMaintain accurate farming records and assist with administrative duties including irrigation records and spray diariesReport any unsafe work practices, damages to plant, tools or equipment, and any incident, accident or near missDemonstrate a high-level understanding of WH&S; practices and lead by exampleAbout youMinimum 5 years' experience working on a large-scale Orchard or StationMinimum 2 years' experience working in a similar supervisory role in the horticultural industryA valid driver's licenceWillingness to participate in any relevant training courses requiredAbility to foster relationshipsAbility to work shift work, weekends and be on call during peak seasons
