The position guides technical decision-making and maintains system level oversight across the software lifecycle to deliver high-quality outcomes for EOS Space Systems' space control products.
Working within a multidisciplinary team, the role translates user and operational requirements into robust software solutions, contributes to system integration activities, and delivers customer-facing enhancements, including UI/UX improvements.Primary dutiesDesign, develop, integrate, and maintain high-performance software systems supporting space telescope and laser operations, ensuring reliable and effective functionality through rigorous testing, system verification, and close collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain software systems supporting space telescope and laser operationsDeliver high-quality, reliable, and high-availability software solutions for mission-critical environmentsSupport system integration, verification, and validation within observatory and space systemsCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams across software, hardware, optical, and systems engineeringImplement and enhance DevOps practices,



including CI/CD pipelines and system automationPerform troubleshooting, debugging, and root-cause analysis of complex software and system issuesContribute to distributed processing and real-time systemsDevelop and enhance visualisation tools and user interfaces for operational useEnsure software meets the requirements of safety-critical systemsSupport continuous improvement of software quality, performance, and engineering standardsExperienceA least 3 years' experienceStrong experience in C++ development on Windows and Linux platforms within complex engineering environmentsExperience with Python or similar programming languages for system development, automation, and data processingProven experience applying software testing methodologies and frameworks, including unit, integration, and system-level testingExperience developing and supporting high-availability, mission-critical software systemsExposure to distributed processing and real-time systems, particularly in scientific or observatory environmentsExperience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, version control, and automated deploymentKnowledge of safety-critical software and systems automation, including interaction with hardware or bespoke firmwareExperience contributing to visualisation tools, user interfaces, and data-driven applications (desirable)Familiarity with space systems, astronomical observatories, or laser-based platforms (desirable)Company cultureOur team come from a diverse range of disciplines and backgrounds and include engineers, scientists, technicians, project managers and administrative staff.About EOSEOS designs, develops, and builds the world's most accurate and highest precision remote weapon systems.
