The successful candidate will need to undertake and possess:Studying drawings, work orders and sample parts to determine requirementsSelecting tools and machine requirements and determining sequence of actionsSetting up woodworking machines and wood stockRunning machines to cut, plane, turn, shape and sand work piecesApplying stain, lacquer, paint, oil and varnish to furniture, also polishing and waxing finished furniture surfacesFitting frame pieces, handles, hardware,
hinges and backing materials as requiredexamine and disassemble furniture to determine the extent of damage or deterioration and the best method for repair or restorationrecommend woods, colours, finishes, and furniture stylesSkills and AbilitiesIdeally have a minimum of 3 years' experience as a qualified Furniture FinisherA Cert III in Furniture Finishing or relevantAbility to work in a team environmentrepair broken parts and fill cracks and imperfectionsfollow plans to produce specific designsremove old finishes and damaged or deteriorated partsSalary range is $75,000 - $85,000pa commensurate with experience.
