Its observations, forecasts, warnings and advice support emergency services, industry, government and communities across Australia.The Bureau is undertaking a major upgrade of its Automatic Weather Station network to ensure it remains reliable, resilient, secure and fit for purpose into the future.THE OPPORTUNITYAn experienced Calibration Officer is required to support the successful delivery of the Automatic Weather Station Infrastructure Upgrade Project across more than 750 sites throughout Australia and the Pacific.Reporting to the Manager, Standards & Metrology Laboratory, you will be responsible for the calibration, acceptance testing, verification and maintenance of electronic, electrical, mechanical, meteorological and hydrological instrumentation.This position would suit someone with strong practical knowledge of instrumentation, calibration and measurement, ideally gained within a calibration, metrology or standards laboratory.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESCoordinate and undertake the calibration, testing, verification and maintenance of laboratory and field equipmentManage the accurate processing of large volumes of meteorological instrumentationSchedule calibration activities in line with project rollout requirements and laboratory capacityConduct acceptance testing and technical evaluation of current instrumentationAnalyse operational data, investigate equipment issues and report on findingsPrepare procedures, technical reports and work instructionsDesign, code, test and document computer programs supporting scientific and operational activitiesProvide technical advice to project and operational stakeholdersSupport the continued development and improvement of laboratory calibration and testing practicesContribute to maintaining compliance with ISO **** and ISO/IEC ***** quality standardsWork collaboratively with project managers, metrologists,
