Heavy Vehicle / Plant Mechanic | Local CouncilWe are currently seeking experienced Vehicle Mechanics: Heavy Vehicle or Plant Mechanics to play a key role in keeping the fleet of trucks, heavy vehicles, and equipment in top condition.
Based at the Wilberforce Depot, this hands-on role is ideal for experienced mechanics looking to work in a supportive, safety-focused team.Spread of hours covers 5:30am to 6:30pmRequirement to participate in on-call roster systemAvailable for after hours responseApplicant must provide own toolsKey Responsibilities:Complete minor and major services on Council vehicles and plantDiagnose and repair faults on Council plant and equipment as requiredCarry our maintenance on Council equipment, including but not limited to chainsaws, brushcutters, mowers, passenger vehicles, trucks and earth moving equipmentDiagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic,



and transmission faultsCarry out oxy and mig welding repairsKeep accurate maintenance and service recordsMaintain workshop safety and assist with parts inventoryEnsure all work complies with WHS and environmental standardsWhat You'll Need:Trade qualification in Heavy Diesel Mechanics or Plant MechanicsAt least 5 years of hands-on experience with heavy vehicles and machinery is essentialSolid knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systemsExperience with diagnostic tools and ECMsHR Driver's LicenceStrong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skillsWhite CardAustralian citizenship or permanent residency requiredHighly Regarded:Heavy Vehicle Registration Inspector certificationWelding and fabrication experienceConfined Space TicketPermit to operate Backhoe, Loader, Forklift, Mobile HIABCRIMINAL RECORD CHECK REQUIRED
