We are seeking a Primary Designer / Drafter to join our supportive and passionate team.This role focuses on zone substation primary design and drafting, including:66kV GIS buildings22kV AIS systemsPrimary substation layouts, equipment arrangements and associated draftingDevelopment and preparation of detailed electrical design drawingsThis is a hands‐on role contributing to the delivery of safe, productive, and high‐quality substation designs and drafting outputs from concept through to detailed design.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver and/or support primary substation design solutions, including substations up to 500kV, earthing, lighting and cable designProduce and develop detailed primary electrical drawings and drafting documentation using AutoCADDevelop designs and drawings in line with AS ****, relevant standards and Safety in Design requirementsCoordinate with secondary, civil and project teams to ensure integrated design deliveryReview and verify internal and external design outputs and manufacturer drawingsSupport scoping and estimation of primary design and drafting worksContribute to design standards, technical improvements and innovation initiativesEnsure designs and drafting outputs meet safety, quality and project objectivesAbout YouWe are open to candidates with an engineering, design or drafting background, including:Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical)



for engineering‐level candidatesRelevant experience in the electrical/power industry, ideally within substation design or draftingStrong understanding of primary substation design, drafting and documentationExperience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStationAbility to interpret electrical engineering drawings, layouts and design documentationUnderstanding of Safety in Design principlesWorking towards or holding NER / RPEng / RPEV (or equivalent) for engineering‐level candidatesRPEQ advantageousStrong attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary project teamsWe are particularly interested in candidates who have experience in primary substation design or drafting and are looking to further develop their technical skills and career within the power industry.Why you'll love working with usSince ****, Balpara has built a reputation for excellence in engineering, design, project management, and surveying.
