THE ROLE
Budgewoi Hotel is looking for a Licensee to take the licence, own the compliance position of the venue end to end, and run it as the General Manager's second in charge.
This is a serious regulatory role.
You'll be appointed as approved manager under section 66 of the Liquor Act **** and will carry personal responsibility under section 91 for the supervision and management of the licensed business at all times.
Demerit points under the Incentives and Demerit Point System attach to you, not just the licence.
We want someone who already understands that, has carried it before, and wants the authority that comes with it.
You'll report to the Venue General Manager and work alongside the kitchen and floor leadership team.
Your weight sits on licensing, gaming, security, rostering and WHS — you'll be present across trade, but you are not the shift cover.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
The licence
Compliance with the Liquor Act ****, Liquor Regulation **** and every condition on the venue's hotel licence — trading hours, authorisations, plan of management, hotel primary purpose test
Prevention of intoxication and service to intoxicated persons; management of violent, indecent or quarrelsome conduct under s73
Minors compliance, ID checking, and any minors area or minors functions authorisation in force
Incident register discipline, CCTV, and the venue's relationship with Liquor & Gaming NSW, NSW Police and the local liquor accord




Protecting the venue's demerit position and clean-record fee incentives
Gaming and harm minimisation
Compliance with the Gaming Machines Act **** and Gaming Machines Regulation **** across 15 gaming machine entitlements
Maintenance of the venue's Gaming Plan of Management and Gambling Incident Register
Responsible Gambling Officer rostering and coverage, ensuring a trained RGO is on duty at all times while machines are operating, with dedicated RGO coverage between midnight and 8am
Self-exclusion administration, patron check-ins, and referral to gambling support services
Signage, ATM and cash-facility compliance, cash input and prize payment rules, and shutdown periods
People, rostering and award compliance
Rostering the venue to trading demand with accurate HIGA (MA******) classification, penalty and overtime application
Ensuring every team member holds current RSA and RCG competency, with evidence available on demand
Coaching supervisors and duty managers to hold the compliance standard when you're not on shift
WHS and security
WHS Act **** (NSW) obligations across the venue — incident reporting, hazard management, contractor and crowd controller oversight
Security provider management, courtesy bus operation, and closing and securing the venue
Food safety compliance under the Food Act **** (NSW) across front of house handling,



in partnership with the kitchen
Reporting
A clear, timely compliance and operational picture to the Venue General Manager — no surprises, and no issue that arrives without a proposed course of action
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
Demonstrated experience as a Licensee or approved manager in a NSW hotel with gaming
NSW RSA competency card
NSW RCG competency card
Advanced Responsible Conduct of Gambling (ARCG) — mandatory for hotel licensees and approved managers in any hotel with gaming machines
Licensee Training (LT), and Advanced Licensee Training (ALT) if you hold it or are willing to complete it
A clean record with Liquor & Gaming NSW and the ability to be approved as a fit and proper person
Food Safety Supervisor certificate (NSW), or willingness to obtain
Working knowledge of HIGA award interpretation and shift-based rostering
Availability across the full trading week — evenings, weekends and public holidays
Full working rights in Australia
