The opportunityWorking within the Software Systems and Integration Unit, you will design, build and own our data warehouse, ETL pipelines and dashboards, enabling near real-time monitoring, reporting and deep-dive analysis of operational data.This is a practical, hands-on data engineering role.
The data happens to come from laboratory and clinical systems, but no clinical, genomics or scientific background is required — you will collaborate with domain experts, developers and operational teams to create scalable, reliable and well-designed data solutions.What you'll doDesign, build and maintain a data warehouse consolidating data from multiple source systemsBuild and operate reliable ETL/ELT pipelines feeding the warehouseDevelop dashboards and reports (we use Metabase) for monitoring, reporting and self-service analyticsPerform deep-dive analysis with SQL to answer operational and business questionsEnsure data quality and validation across pipelines and datasetsWork with non-technical stakeholders to turn reporting needs into well-designed dashboards and data modelsWhat you'll bring3+ years of experience as a data engineer, analytics engineer, BI developer or similarExperience building and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines in productionStrong SQL: complex queries, data modelling and query optimisation on relational databasesData warehousing experience — designing and building, not just queryingExperience building dashboards with a modern BI tool (Metabase highly regarded; Tableau, Power BI, Looker or similar also welcome)Solid Python for data work,
