As an Estimator / Detailer, you will work closely with our customers, production team and management to take residential projects from plans and engineering through to accurate quotations, layouts and production-ready documentation.
This position is specifically suited to someone who already understands the timber truss and frame industry and can confidently work with architectural plans, engineering documentation and truss/frame designs.Key responsibilitiesPreparing accurate quotations for timber roof trusses and floor systemsDetailing and designing timber truss and frame projectsReading and interpreting architectural drawings, engineering plans and specificationsPreparing truss layouts, production documentation and cutting informationReviewing plans and identifying discrepancies or missing information before productionLiaising directly with builders, supervisors, engineers and customers regarding project requirementsWorking closely with our production team to ensure jobs are practical and ready for manufactureOptimising designs to achieve efficient material usage while maintaining structural and design requirementsManaging multiple projects and ensuring quotations and detailing are completed within required timeframesEnsuring designs comply with relevant Australian Standards and industry requirementsAbout youStrong knowledge of roof trusses and floor truss systemsExperience working within a truss manufacturing environmentAbility to confidently read architectural and structural engineering drawingsExperience with Cornerstone and/or MiTek SAPPHIRE will be highly regardedStrong understanding of residential construction and timber framingExcellent attention to detail and problem-solving skillsAbility to identify design or dimensional issues before they reach productionGood communication skills when dealing with builders, customers and internal production staffAbility to manage workloads and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentAbout usGateway Truss is a growing Melbourne truss manufacturer.
