Project Architect – Heritage ConservationWorking closely with the Directors and the heritage team, you will take responsibility for a portfolio of significant heritage projects across Sydney and NSW.
This is a senior, hands-on role for an architect with strong experience in heritage conservation, restoration and adaptive reuse, confident managing projects from inception through documentation, construction and completion.Key responsibilitiesManaging heritage conservation, restoration and adaptive reuse projects across all project stagesUndertaking detailed site inspections, condition assessments and investigations of existing and historic building fabricDeveloping appropriate conservation methodologies and practical repair solutionsPreparing architectural drawings, specifications, schedules of conservation works and other technical documentationManaging tender and construction-stage services, including contract administrationReviewing contractor methodologies, samples, shop drawings and site worksCoordinating clients, heritage consultants, structural engineers, services consultants, contractors and approval authoritiesManaging project programmes, budgets, deliverables and overall project performanceMentoring and providing technical guidance to junior architects and graduatesContributing to the ongoing technical standards, project systems and day-to-day operation of the practiceAbout youRegistration as an Architect in Australia, or eligibility for registrationApproximately 5+ years of qualified architectural experienceDemonstrated experience in heritage conservation,



restoration and adaptive reusePractical knowledge of traditional building materials and conservation techniques, ideally including sandstone and masonry conservation, lime mortars, roofing, leadwork, timber and historic building fabricExperience preparing conservation documentation, specifications and schedules of worksStrong construction-stage and contract administration experienceConfidence undertaking site inspections and resolving technical issues during constructionA sound understanding of NSW heritage legislation, conservation principles and recognised best-practice approachesStrong client, consultant and contractor coordination skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbout usEstablished over 40 years ago, OCP Architects is a Sydney-based architectural practice specialising in heritage conservation, restoration and adaptive reuse.
